The
cervical area of the spine is that portion
located in the neck. A herniated cervical
disc would result in neck and upper back
pain, as well as pain that spreads to the
shoulders and arms. Many patients with a
herniated cervical disc even experience numbness
in the arms and hands, and are vulnerable
to an increased amount of pain due to sudden
or exaggerated movements.
This extreme pain paired with troubled walking
or motor skills usually suggests that the
condition is of a serious nature. If the
pain does not respond to conservative treatment,
there is an advanced
option called percutaneous laser disc decompression,
or PLDD. Learn more about that procedure
here.
